Yasser El Mallawany - Chairman

After a 15 years banking career with Chase (later CIB), Mr. El Mallawany moved to become the CEO of Egypts largest merchant bank (CIIC). He established and became the CEO of a regional joint-venture with Fleming and subsequently co-led the consolidation of the investment banking industry in Egypt at the beginning of 2001 creating EFG-Hermes as it stands today. Mr. El Mallawany has extensive private equity, capital markets and M&A experience and has been involved with some of the most high-profile investments and transactions in the region.

Hazem Shawki - Board Member

Prior to joining EFG-Hermes, Mr. Shawki was a Managing Director in Investment Banking with Goldman Sachs, covering the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1999 as an Associate in the Telecommunications, Media and Technology group within Investment Banking in London. In 2004, he moved to the European Financing Group, where he focused on Equity Capital Markets (ECM) for the European New Markets area. In 2007, he moved to Dubai to take on coverage responsibility for some of the firms most important client relationships in the MENA region.

Tarek Assad - Managing Partner

Tarek is Managing Partner of Ideavelopers. Prior to joining Ideavelopers, he was General Manager of CID Consulting where he led the company’s aggressive growth and establishment as one of the leading consulting firms in Egypt. Tarek’s consulting work focused on strategic management issues for clients in the IT, Telecom and government sectors. Tarek started his career in Silicon Valley where he worked in technology development and later in management consulting. He holds a BSc in Electronics Engineering from Ain Shams University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Ahmad Gomaa - Managing Partner

Mr. Ahmad Gomaa is Managing Partner of Ideavelopers; the dedicated venture capital subsidiary of EFG-Hermes Private Equity. Mr. Gomaa has over a decade of private equity experience especially within the Egyptian and regional Technology, Media and Telecommunications markets. As Managing Partner, Mr. Gomaa is currently responsible for the management of five TMT related funds and investment vehicles with total assets under management of USD 114 million. Prior to joining Ideavelopers, Mr. Gomaa was a Principal at EFG-Hermes Private Equity where he was a member of the investment team managing its TMT portfolio. Prior to that, Mr. Gomaa was an investment professional at the Commercial International Investment Company (CIIC) where he worked on private equity transactions in the Textiles, Pharmaceuticals and TMT sectors. During this time, Mr. Gomaa was appointed as the Director for Business Development at Egypt Cyber Center; Egypts first and largest data center; where he helped found and grow the business. Mr. Gomaa holds a B.A., in Political Science from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
